September 30 - October 7
Visit the website for more information and to download the program.
The safari camp location is an ideal place for birdwatchers with over 60 species recorded at the site in 2017. The accommodation at the site provides a great base as you can bird watch from your bed!. Your alarm clock is likely to be the call of the majestic White bellied sea eagle Haliaeetus leucogaster, or Marrawurdi as it is known locally,. Their call is often the first call of the morning. There is also an amazing dawn chorus.
Walking the edges of the billabong system and the adjacent woodland provides great opportunities to see local bird species. At this time of year the birds are congregated around the water increasing your chances of getting a good view. There are many plants flowering in the area and this is attracting many birds.
You will need to bring your own food and drinking water. There are showers and toilets at the camp and most of the huts now have fans and USB charging ports to recharge cameras, phones and electronic devices. There is no mobile phone reception from the location.
